Hi Hun! My Name’s Abdulla and I’m an artist
I love telling stories and building experiences around them
Found my beginnings as a graphic designer and photographer. Both mediums felt very flat to me. The question in my head was always; how might I immerse everyone in the work. Thats when I started adding multiple dimensions to bring the work to life. As an artist I like to build experiences that tell stories and hopefully eject viewers from their current reality and transport them to another universe.
The way I go about my work, I call it a dance between my inner child and adult. A dance between my subconscious and conscious mind. One dreams it and the other builds it. I’m always fighting to keep up with my inner child. I think that’s where my curiosity to learn comes from. I love working with new technologies and learning how to create using a lot of different mediums. That really helps me (or my inner child) talk in so many languages. When telling stories, I believe choosing the right medium (language) is really important. Painting infuses your physicality in the artwork. Photography compresses the timeline of creation, I can spend hours and days doing makeup and clothes for it to be over in a matter of minutes. That’s just 2 of the things I like to dabble in.
My entire body of work, and we’re referencing future work yet to be created, all revolve around a world called Plump’s Topia. Plump is my childhood nickname, and topia refers to my world. I see my work as a reflection of my own being. I don’t consciously guide myself to create within the realm of Plump’s Topia but it just happens. I’m a kid making art, the process is entirely intuitive and then becomes reflective.
and yeah that’s me!
