brief

The Sharjah Foreign Direct Investment Forum is Shorooq’s most anticipated event hosted in Sharjah. The project came about as a surprise as I was a recent joiner at the time. I dived straight in though, we had a goal and we needed to brand an event. After understand the climate and energy surrounding the event. The brand needed to reflect Sharjahs ideals at its core yet reflect the events openness and interconnectedness.

The two main keywords to go off of during the design process were Sustainability and Connectivity. My approach was to understand how the two words are visually represented. Looked at imagery from several contexts like, science, corporate, design & art.

the first approach was to create imagery that moves. the lines are reminicisnet of the imagery of connectivity.

the parallelogram is a geometric shape made up of parallel lines. To me, this shape alone combined both the concept of connectivity and sustainability. Parallel lines = sustainability; Intersection; connectivity.

the second approach I incorporated morse code within the design of the icon. marrying that with the notion of ripples or sound waves.
